Naim Super Nova!

Naim Audio has launched a new one-box system – Nova PE (Power Edition) – it’s most powerful all-in-one player to date.

A beefier version of award-winning Uniti Nova, this ‘Super Nova’ delivers a punchy 150W (into 8Ω) against standard Nova’s 80W. So it should be powerful enough to drive the most demanding of loudspeakers and fill larger spaces.

Nova PE is about 2cm taller than standard Nova but otherwise aesthetically identical. Functionality and connectivity remain the same  – Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify Connect, Apple Music, AirPlay2, Chromecast, UPnP™, Roon Ready and Bluetooth® AptX HD technologies plus multiroom compatibility.

The difference is the amplifier. Unlike the rest of the Uniti family – Atom, Star and Nova – that utilise Class AB, Nova PE incorporates Class D amplification to produce more power, capable of driving more stubborn loudspeakers, in larger rooms to high sound pressure levels without compromising on the characteristic Naim sound. Naim’s engineers have worked to fully integrate industry-leading class D amplification directly onto the Nova circuit boards, culminating in their most efficient, powerful and ecological streaming all-in-one product to date.

Nova PE streams up to 32bit/384kHz and remains simple to control via the ZigBee bi-directional remote (no line of sight required) and/or the Naim/Focal app on smartphone or tablet. It’s also easy to connect to your TV via HDMI ARC to vastly improve TV audio and allow volume control via your TV’s remote.

The other difference of course is price. Nova PE will retail at £8600, a hefty jump from standard Nova at £4399.
