New Hana MC cartridges

The Hana low and high output moving coil cartridge ranges have been winning reviewer praise and awards since their introduction to the UK in 2015, so we thought we’d give them a whirl.

Hana (meaning “brilliant and gorgeous” in Japanese) produce a range of insightful and musical cartridges, offering real value for money in their respective price bands. The cartridges use high rigidity aluminum cantilevers and cross-shaped armatures; they are manufactured in Japan by Excel Sound Corporation, who pride themselves on their manufacturing quality and quality controls at every stage, ensuring the handmade cartridges are perfectly consistent.

There are three different styli designs:

1. Reference “ML” and “MH” range, with nude natural diamond Micro-line stylus design, RRP £995
2. High performance Hana S range “SH” and “SL” cartridges use a nude natural diamond Shibata-stylus, capable of excellent high frequency response, giving super transparency and brilliant trackability, RRP £599
3. Lower cost E range “EH” and “EL” cartridges which come with a synthetic Elliptical diamond styli, RRP £389

All three ranges come in two output options, offering either High output 2.0mv/1KHz or Low output 0.5mv/1KHz (ML 0.4mv/1KHz). The high output cartridges are designed to be used with a moving magnet type phono stage.
