New Planar 1 from Rega

Rega Research’s Planar 1 turntable is without question the best entry-level deck we have come across. It outperforms every other turntable close to it’s price-point (and many above) and since it was revamped in 2016, that quality gap has increased further.

It is so popular in fact, that Rega have now exhausted their supply of high gloss plinths and so are taking the opportunity to introduce Planar 1 (2021) sporting new, matt plinths in black or white, as well as a new drive belt to improve performance again. Rega’s EBLT drive belt, included as standard on the 2021 decks, improves timing and accuracy and hence musical performance.

Both come fitted with a Rega Carbon cartridge and RB110 tonearm and can be set up in under a minute – just take it out of the box and plug it in! They retail at £275 for the Planar 1 and £345 for the Planar 1 Plus (same deck but with an integrated Rega phono stage for connection to a standard line input on your amplifier).
