New from Rega – Mercury & Solis Pre/Power

It’s been a busy time for Rega Research… following a whopping SIX What Hi-fi? Awards last month, there’s now THREE brand new products to tell you about. First up, the new reference pre/power amplifier combo, Mercury and Solis.

These two have been an open secret for over a year, and both have now been perfected for launch. Rega’s new reference pre and power amplifier combination – Mercury and Solis – are the culmination of almost four decades of Rega electronics engineering experience in solid-state amplifier development.

Mercury Preamplifier, £6950
Rega’s quest to create a no compromise preamplifier knew no bounds (hence the mammoth development timescales) and Mercury is it – delivering an ultra-low noise floor with exceptional dynamic range, able to capture all of the intricate detail of quiet performances. Mercury utilises a discrete, fully symmetrical amplifier circuit to ensure minimum distortion, whilst offering great flexibility and usability with the convenience of a high-performance DAC, discrete headphone amplifier and a full colour IPS display.

Solis Power Amplifier, £6950
Meticulously engineered for the most demanding of audiophiles and the most demanding of loudspeakers, Solis is the pinnacle of Rega design and craftsmanship, with every component selected for its superior audio properties and engineered by Rega over the past FOUR YEARS, fine tuning the circuit to create the most engaging and accurate performance.

As a combination, the separate chassis for pre-amplifier and power amplifier allows the low voltage sensitive circuitry to be isolated from the high current power amplifier circuitry, reducing interference between the two; leading to a less noisy signal path, cleaner signal and, ultimately, better performance.
