It’s time to blow the dust off (or preferably properly clean) your old 78s collection.

Rega Research have just launched the new Planar 78 – a single speed turntable dedicated to 78rpm vinyl playback. Excellent build quality, reliability and ease of use combine to make a product which offers a lifetime of musical enjoyment.

Planar 78 is a re-design of Rega’s RP78 turntable, designed and engineered to achieve outstanding performance way beyond the expectations of it’s price point (just £349).

It is built around the gloss Planar 1 plinth, uses Rega’s low vibration 24v motor technology for the first time and includes the RB220 precision tonearm.

The RB220 is meticulously hand-assembled, using patent-pending ultra-lightweight high quality polymer bearings, new die-cast tube and latest three point arm mounting system. This system reduces stress on the plinth and tonearm and offers greater stability though the arm – all of which translates into more music for the listener.

Designed solely for the reproduction of 78 rpm records, Rega has omitted any unnecessary gimmicks and instead focused manufacturing costs on the high quality parts necessary for accurate vinyl playback. The minimalist design of the Rega Planar 78 and the use of extremely high quality components ensure that this turntable should last for many years.
