Music Streaming made simple

6 December 2017

You’ve heard about it, some of your friends are doing it and apparently it can be very good… better even than CDs. But just what is music streaming? How do you go about it? And what do you do with all those CDs you’ve collected?!

These questions are not uncommon. You are not alone if you’re asking them. So don’t be afraid, let us show you the answers.

The way we listen to music has changed beyond all recognition in recent years. A decade ago, compact discs accounted for over 80% of recorded music sales; streaming was only just emerging as a serious format contender.
Fast forward to 2017 and CDs now make up less than 20% of music sales. But wait! That doesn’t mean your collection of five inch silver discs is obsolete; far from it. In fact, we’ll show you how to make those discs sound better.

Music streaming is easy, you don’t need to be a technical whizz, it doesn’t need to cost an arm and a leg and of course most importantly, it can sound incredible.

Some pretty bold claims there we know, so come along to our inaugural ‘Streaming Made Simple’ tutorial and discover the infinite and glorious world of streaming digital music. It’s fun, it’s free and it’s informal. We’ll explain the basics of streaming high quality music over a home network, demonstrating:

  • What you need to get started (less than you think)
  • How to rip and store your CDs losslessly (on a device smaller than a shoe-box)
  • All you need to know about streaming services (TIDAL, Spotify, Qobuz, etc)
  • Explore the world (literally) of Internet Radio
  • How to access ‘HD’ or Studio Master music
  • The dem – CD vs. streamed CD copy
  • Q&A

We are running sessions at 11am, 1pm & 3pm. Email us to book a space.
