Introducing next generation Majik DSM – a beloved classic revamped, inside & out.
The name is the same, but that’s about it. Next generation Linn Majik DSM has been completely overhauled for 2020, and is all the better for it. This single box offers a powerful combination of high resolution network music player, pre and power amps, integrated phono stage and headphone output, for an easy first step into authentic audiophile performance; just add speakers.
Performance
Next generation Majik DSM outperforms its predecessor, and its competition, thanks to:
DAC implementation improvements: based on Katalyst DAC technology and including improved upsampling, a lower noise reference voltage and an ultra-low jitter clock for greater timing accuracy throughout.
New digital volume control: removing a lossy component from the signal path for lower noise and distortion.
Power amplification: bespoke, Linn-designed Class D power amplifiers offer better performance thanks to their lower noise and distortion and more efficient signal conversion, allowing even greater musical detail to be extracted than Linn’s Chakra amp.
New, higher power processing platform.
Connectivity
Majik DSM will handle anything you throw at it – all the analogue, digital and wireless connectivity you need to connect all your sources, from TV to turntable.
With wireless and Bluetooth connectivity now included, as well as 4 x HDMI, HDMI ARC, Toslink, SPDIF, USB, RCA Phono (configurable) inputs and HDMI, SPDIF, RCA Phono and Headphone outputs Majik DSM has all bases covered. Users of the latest generation Naim music-streaming products will receive software updates that will make it easier to find, manage and enjoy your favourite music, radio stations and playlists on your system.
Released today on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, the Naim App update combines a range of new functionalities for users of:
- Mu-so 2nd Generation & Mu-so Qb 2nd Generation
- Uniti Atom, Uniti Star, Uniti Nova
- ND5 XS2, NDX 2 and ND 555
Here are the key enhancements:
NEW! Favourites Browser – available from todayFind your favourites via a new dedicated source in the Naim app.
The Favourites ‘Star’ icon now sits alongside all your other sources (Spotify, TIDAL, Qobuz and Bluetooth).
Selecting the Favourites icon directs you to a list of all your favourites, by category (favourite artists, albums, playlists etc). The first 8 items in each category are shown first; select ‘More’ to see the full list. You can then further sort and filter your favourites – for example, sorting by Date Added, or filter by Qobuz.
UPDATED: Home Screen Favourites – available from today
We have added more functionality to thee Home Screen Favourites view on the lower half of the App home screen – a popular shortcut to your listening enjoyment.
The most recently added Favourites are now displayed first. For Playlists, the most recently modified are displayed first; the dedicated Playlists view also now includes all your playlists, with icons to show their source.
Improved synchronisation keeps your Favourites list up to date; on Android devices you can also manually refresh your list with a quick screen pull down on that section. Finally, Home Screen Favourites will now include a Presets section – see more below.
UPDATED: Preset options – available after Firmware update in early August
Unlike Favourites, which are all App-based, Presets are also accessible via the illuminated dial of your Mu-so and Mu-so Qb 2nd Generation or the front-panel buttons of your Uniti Atom, Star or Nova streaming system, plus NDX 2 and ND 555 streaming players.
The Home Screen Favourites view has a Presets tab; now you can find them in the new Favourites Browser too. Simply drag and drop your Presets to arrange them in your desired order.
On Mu-so 2nd Generation products running software v4.2 or higher.
You can choose up to 5 Presets from your favourite Internet Radio stations or Spotify playlists. The App neatly mirrors your Mu-so 2nd Generation’s illuminated dial to map the position of each Preset.
On Uniti Atom, Star or Nova systems, plus ND 5 XS2, NDX 2 and ND 555 players running software version 3.5 or higher.
You can create unlimited numbers of Presets from your favourite Internet Radio Stations, or Qobuz, Spotify and Tidal playlists, albums and tracks. Scroll through your Presets arrange your Presets in the App.
What else is new in the App?
In addition to the new Favourites functionality, today’s App update also includes these updates:
- Global search has been enhanced to include content on a Uniti Core music server.
- Android users will now see their Qobuz and Tidal favourites included in their Home Screen Favourites
- A number of bug fixes and enhancements, including some missing translations.

It has been a long time coming, but we are delighted and excited to tell you that Adventures In Hi-fi will re-open for business this week.
Opening days and times will be reduced as we ease back into operations, mindful of social distancing restrictions and sensible precautions.
From today, Thursday June 25th 2020, the shop will be open weekly on:
Thursdays 11am – 5.30pm
Fridays 11am – 5.30pm
Please call ahead on 01244 345 576 prior to arriving if you are planning a visit so that we can commit to a safe appointment time, when the right person is available. Appointments outside these opening hours are also available by calling; the phone and emails are still being monitored 7 days a week.
This is of course a constantly changing landscape and we envisage opening hours will be extended as and when we are able, in line with government guidance, whilst ensuring the safety of our clients and staff. To that end, we have implemented a comprehensive cleaning regime with antibacterial wipe station and measured safe distance points.
We will of course keep you posted of any changes to opening hours via email, our Facebook page and our website but in the meantime can’t wait to get back to work!
